Membership in ACUI
Membership in ACUI is one of the most important steps an institution or company can take to contribute significantly to the total campus environment and to the development of people who form the academic community. The college union is not a building; it is a program that offers educational activities and services that are a critical part of the college experience. ACUI supports its members in this role as campus community builders.
ACUI offers three categories of membership. Please see details below to choose the membership that is right for you.
Institutional Membership
Any college or university that presents a general program for the cultural and recreational life of the student body as a primary activity is invited to join the Association. To see how you can save money through an institutional membership with ACUI, please visit the membership benefits calculator.
Institutional membership is now based on a calendar year with an annual renewal date of Jan. 1.
The dues structure for institutional members is calculated on a matrix that combines institutional enrollment (full-time equivalent) and the number of professional staff. When an institution joins ACUI, the institution is given a number of individual memberships that can be given to professional staff members, students, vice chancellors, vice presidents, chancellors, presidents, or boards of trustees.

Professional and Student Membership
Professional staff members at member institutions may be given a membership in conjunction with their institution's membership. However, if a professional staff member was not selected as a recipient, the staff member may purchase a professional membership payable by the individual. (Note that member institutions can purchase additional memberships in blocks of five for $187.) Professional membership at a member institution is $55.
Professional members at a nonmember institution may purchase their own membership, allowing those individuals to receive all the same benefits that institutional membership permits. Professional membership is $250 annually and must be paid by the individual and not the institution. Only the person holding the membership can receive member benefits.
Student memberships are also available to all students regardless of whether the institution is a current member. Student membership is $40 for undergraduate and graduate students and must be paid by the individuals.

Faculty Membership
Many institutions are already ACUI members, though faculty in the education and counseling programs are not included on the membership roster. ACUI strongly believes that today's undergraduate and graduate students are tomorrow's leaders and community builders, and we invite faculty members to join ACUI to help nurture those students. Therefore, ACUI is currently offering free membership to full-time faculty teaching or conducting research in an area related to student affairs.
